Delhi Govt reduces fees for Speed Limit device Certificates!

In an initiative to benefit Lakhs of Commercial vehicle owners in the national capital, the Delhi Transport Department has fixed 'Speed Limit device Certificates' fees at Rs 500.

In general, commercial vehicles require to have certificates to show that they have a functional speed limit device (commonly known as speed governors) during their fitness test time. The current charge of issuing such certificates is between Rs 2,500 to 3,000. To ease the burden of such fees, Delhi government takes a positive step toward easing certification processes and cutting on their charges.

In an order issued on Tuesday, the Transport Department highlighted that many speed governor manufacturers, authorized vendors are taking an "exorbitant amount" for issuing speed limit devices certificates. From now onwards, they will not charge more than Rs 500 for issuing these certificates.

Chandu Chaurasia, president of Capital Drivers Welfare Association, said that this move will benefit around 4 lakh commercial passenger vehicles.

Furthermore, he added, "We had raised this issue that we have to pay anywhere between Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000" for these certificates. I thank the Transport Department and Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot for this decision, "he said.

Commonly, four-wheelers are fitted with speed governors to regulate their high-speed limit as per the traffic restrictions on different roads in the city.
