According to a leaked document, Ford India has discontinued EcoSport EcoBoost variant. This variant was available in a single S trim at the price of Rs. 10.95L (Ex-Showroom). Bookings of EcoSport EcoBoost have been halted across the country and the model will be dropped from the line up of Ford India on January 15th. The discontinuation of EcoBoost variant could be due to the BS6 norms.
EcoSport EcoBoost will be discontinue in India- Ford India
The EcoSport utilizes the award winning 1.0L EcoBoost engine which produce 125PS of power and 170Nm of torque. It is offered with 6-speed manual gearbox.
After the upgrade of imported EcoBoost engine, it could drive the costs further which could result in sales, which is already happening with existing versions as well. This is the main reason that Ford India will be withdrawing EcoSport EcoBoost variant in India.
The EcoSport S variant came in to the game with their rivals, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Tata Nexon and did well in the market. The variant has six manual gears with 5th and 6th gear as overdrive. As per users’ reviews, this variant was good enough in the sub 4 meter SUV segment. But after the introduction of BS6, Ford India is finally calling off this version and will be discontinued on 15th Jan this year.
