New Delhi, April 3, 2019: British carmaker, MG Motor India unveiled the connectivity features of the MG Hector SUV ahead of its forthcoming launch. The company announced that the new MG Hector SUV will be India's first internet car that will feature a new advanced connectivity system called i-Smart next-generation system.
This new generation technology combines hardware, software, connectivity, services and applications and has been jointly developed by Cisco, Microsoft and Unlimit, a network connectivity company, to name a few. The new app gives all the information at a glance with the provision to manage vehicle settings as well.
The MG Hector iSmart will also come with smart applications, built-in apps, voice assistance, over-the-air updates with 5G ready Machine-to-Machine (M2M) embedded sim, emergency call feature and much more. The system also offers features like real time navigation, remote location, Geo-Fencing. Additionally, the company will also introduce a very generous 10.4-inch ultra large full-HD infotainment system with a plethora of connectivity features in the new Hector SUV.
The company has developed this technology in partnership with global technology players that includes Microsoft, Adobe, Unlimit, SAP, Cisco, Gaana, TomTom and Nuance, MG Motor said in a release. Pre-loaded Gaana app with Premium Account and Accuweather will further help the customers to access music and weather forecasts. All apps have been specially customized for MG Hector’s large Head Unit.
Currently, the company did not disclose any technical specifications of the engine that will power the new MG Hector, but expect a 48v mild hybrid system with regenerative braking function on a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V, Jeep Compass rival will also come with a non-hybrid 1.5-litre petrol mill along with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Transmission duties will be taken care by an automatic gearbox. Expected cost of the new MG Hector ranges between Rs. 17 lakh – Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
