Los Angeles, March 16, 2019 : Tesla has revealed the Model Y SUV on Friday in the Los Angeles and prices start at $39,000 (approximately Rs. 27 lakh). Deliveries of the Model Y are expected to start by 2020 for the long range rear-wheel drive model and the dual-motor all-wheel drive variants, while the standard range model will be available from 2021.
The Model Y will be available in a standard range version, and a long range, Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive, and Performance variants. The company says that the Model Y electric crossover is spacious enough to carry seven adults and their gear. The high-efficiency powertrain and ultra-responsive motors will enable the car to reach zero to 60 miles per hour (mph) in just 3.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of up to 150 mph.
The Model Y also gets the same smartphone-as-a-key interface, and connects with the Tesla Mobile app for functions such as remote unlock, Summon, remote pre-conditioning, location tracking, Speed Limit Mode and more.
Tesla says that the Model Y will provide the highest levels of safety like the rest of the vehicles in its range, and is fully compatible with its current Supercharger network, including the new V3 Superchargers rated at 250 kW.
The Model Y is expected to be slightly longer than the Model 3, which measures 4690mm, but a similar width (1930mm). That makes it a similar size to the Mercedes-Benz EQC and slightly shorter than an Audi E-tron.
