India, March 12, 2019 : Tata Motors has unveiled its upcoming premium hatchback, the Altroz at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The hatchback is expected to be launch in India in mid-2019. The Tata Altroz is based on Tata’s Impact Design 2.0 Philosophy.
The Altroz is the first in a series of new models to be built on Tata’s all-new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) platform. The name Altroz is inspired from Albatross, a sea bird native to southern oceans of the world. The Tata Altroz rivals the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and Honda Jazz.
The Altroz’s engine line-up is quite comprehensive, including two petrol and one diesel option. As for the powertrain, it will borrow the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the Nexon, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. This petrol engine will develop 100PS/140Nm in the Altroz. It will feature an LCD display along with an analogue speedometer, just like the Harrier. The Altroz is likely to get an ‘Eco’ mode like other modern cars from Tata Motors.
