New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 2019 Launched

New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 2019 Launched

India, January 23, 2019 :  The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is launching in India today at a starting price of Rs. 4.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and bookings have been ongoing since early this month.  Maruti Suzuki has already unveiled a bunch of details about the third-generation Wagon R, and the car has come a long way from the previous-gen model. Firstly, the car is based on the same Heartect platform as the new Swift and Dzire. Based on a spec-sheet that was leaked online, the 2019 Wagon R is now wider by 145 mm wider and offers 25 mm longer wheelbase.

Another big change in the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is under the cover. The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R will get the more powerful 1.2-litre K12B four-cylinder petrol engine, in addition to the existing 1.0-litre K10B three-cylinder motor. The 1197 cc motor, sourced from the Swift, churns out 82 bhp at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 113 Nm at 4,200 rpm, while the smaller 998 cc motor makes 67 bhp at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 90 Nm at 3,500 rpm. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and an optional 5-speed AGS unit.

The new Wagon R comes with an all-new exterior, featuring new dual-split headlamps, a new grille with chrome slat, ORVMs with integrated turn lights, new vertical LED tail lamps, and rear windshield wiper among others. The new Wagon R will be offered in three variants that come in seven different iterations - LXI 1.0L, VXI 1.0L, and VXI AGS 1.0L, along with VXI 1.2, VXI AGS 1.2, ZXI 1.2 and ZXI AGS 1.2. Maruti will be offering six colour options - Superior White, Silky Silver, along with four new colours - Magma Grey, Pearl Nutmeg Brown, Pearl Autumn Orange, and Pearl Poolside Blue.

With respect to safety, the car will come with the driver side airbag, ABS with EBD, front seatbelts reminder, speed alert system and rear parking sensors as standard across all trims. It's disheartening though that the passenger side airbag is not a standard feature on the hatchback.
