Mumbai, December 03, 2018 : 'Dead Vehicles' become a big problem for Mumbai Traffic Police Department because it takes a lot of parking space and there is not enough space at the police stations to tow away dead vehicles. They have to be taken in junkyards, but the BMC is unable to auction them regularly to clear these yards and make space for more.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amitesh Kumar agrees that the problem cannot be solved unless space is created in these yards by way of auctioning. To solve this problem from the city Traffic police need just three days to clear all abandoned vehicles. In Mumbai, there's no place that is free of abandoned vehicles excepting for Marine Drive, Worli seaface and VIP roads etc.
